Boo!

Happy Halloween everyone! My two little trick-or-treaters are READY!

 photo IMG_4687.jpg

They got a special preview yesterday when we trick-or-treated at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Apparently grandkids (and kids!) get an entire bag of candy. SCORE. And Aunt Erin was there with candy too. We could have totally stopped right there....but a certain THE HULK was a little anxious to get some more trip-or-treating on.

 photo IMG_4701.jpg

Sadie had so much fun just walking up to the door....I'm sure she has no clue what's going on but Hudson's excitement was contagious!

 photo IMG_4703.jpg

So we hoped on over to our town's truck or treat event. We've never been before so I had zero expectations. And oh my word. It was insane. SO BUSY. And so many kids. It was advertized as a "safe alternative to trick or treating!" and it was...except there were a million kids running around truck-or-treating, grabbing snacks, and bouncing in the 4 different bounce houses. And it gave me way more anxiety than actual trick-or-treating!

 photo IMG_4688.jpg

We met up with Hudson's BFF, Callen and his family and had so much fun.....BUT we wished there was an adult beverage station because man, it was stressful. I didn't even take pictures...I was too overwhelmed, ha! Thanks to Mary for snapping this one. These boys love each other!

 photo IMG_4704.jpg

But the kids had so much fun! And that's all that matters right?

Luckily Hudson and Sadie get to trick-or-treat AGAIN tonight. Bring on the candy.

Sadie's Room....Sneak Peak

October 28, 2016

 photo FullSizeRender_1.jpg

This girl. Sadie is a pink and flower loving lady...and I love it. Girlfriend LOVES her pink room...and I do too (even though it's the hardest room ever to photograph.) There's nothing like the news of another little girl coming our way soon to motivate me to work on finishing Sadie's room. It's still not done...will it ever be????

So today I'm showing you our progress so far.....

 photo IMG_4606.jpg

Come on in!

 photo IMG_4604.jpg

We had to re-do this gallery wall once because I didn't like how it turned out the first time....I'm not good with decisions!

 photo IMG_4609.jpg
 photo IMG_4612.jpg

Sadie's sheet, blanket, and Dream Big pillow are from the Just Born Sparkle Collection. They are so soft and we love them!

 photo IMG_4610.jpg

I want to replace the knobs on her dresser...but I just can't decide what to pick!

 photo IMG_4608.jpg

Hair bows for days....this isn't even all of them.

 photo IMG_4613.jpg

All of Sadie's best pals. She is kitty OBSESSED and had a fit that I took that black kitty (her favorite) away for 5 seconds to snap a photo! She calls them all "kiki" and it's the cutest thing ever.

 photo IMG_4614.jpg

This is my favorite part of Sadie's room....her cute table and chairs...and books! I have some plans for the wall behind her...so stay tuned!

 photo FullSizeRender 2.jpg

Be sure to check out the Just Born Sparkle Collection available at Buy Buy Baby....seriously the cutest and softest stuff ever!

This post is sponsored by Just Born but all opinions are my own.

It's a girl!

October 24, 2016

 photo FullSizeRender copy_1.jpg

It’s a girl!!!

Did you catch the news on instagram? We are thrilled to announce we are being blessed with another sweet baby GIRL!

 photo IMG_4511.jpg

I took photos of the kids with balloons the day before we found out, because I knew I probably wouldn’t have time the day of our little gender reveal party. And I’m so glad I did! Sadie had no clue what was happening but there were balloons! So she was happy! And Hudson was…..not so much. He did not want to part with his blue balloons, even for one photo. So…no pink balloon photo for him.

 photo FullSizeRender 2 copy_1.jpg

But I did get this super cute one of both kids with the blue balloons.....our "it's a boy!" announcement that we obviously didn't use!

 photo IMG_4526.jpg

My grandma and her husband were visiting from California this past week....so when we found out our gender ultrasound was the same week Jon suggested we have a little party. And I'm so glad we did! We had family and just a few friends over to reveal our big news. At our ultrasound on Wednesday we had the technician write "boy" or "girl" in an envelope that my mom took to the bakery.....and we also had her write it again in an envelope that my mom kept (this time, including a photo of our sweet babe's girl parts!).....because I'm paranoid and wanted to make sure the bakery didn't pull a switcheroo or make a mistake. Ha.

We had Hudson and his friend, Ava, be our cupcake reveal helpers. I prepped Hudson for several days leading up to the party about what blue inside the cupcake would mean, and what pink inside would mean. He was TOTALLY rooting for blue. And convinced we would see blue. Because "we already have a girl baby, we need a boy baby this time!"

I also prepped him that we should be happy no matter what we find out.....I was a little afraid he'd have a meltdown if he saw pink inside. And I had a STRONG feeling we would be seeing pink, so I really tried to help him be happy either way. And he is. Sort of.

 photo FullSizeRender 4 copy_1.jpg

So for the big reveal Hudson chopped his giant cupcake in half and then everyone screamed! He just sort of stared at it in disbelief and it is the funniest thing ever (check out the video below). But finally announced it was a "girl baby!"

And you better believe my mom and I ripped open that second envelope right after Hudson made the announcement to double check!

We are so excited to have another little girl! Sadie gets a sister and Hudson gets another sweet babe to protect. We couldn't be happier!

Super Easy Little Boy Hair Care Routine

October 19, 2016

 photo Super Easy-3.png

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of SoCozy, but as always, our love for their products is all our own!

Whenever I share a photo of my son, Hudson, on Instagram, the number one question I get is about his hair. And I love that. If you know me, you know I'm straight up obsessed with his strawberry blond locks....and pray every day that his hair doesn't turn dark! I LOVE having a little redheaded side kick!

Little Boy Hair Care Routine

But the hair care routine of an active 4 year old boy can be summed up like this: load product on your hands, chase down the 4 year old, and apply product AS FAST AS YOU CAN. Seriously. Work fast.

Little Boy Hair Care Routine

Now that Hudson is 4, I've learned a few hair care tips along the way. Here's what has been working great for Hudson (and me!) lately:

1. Use the right products at bath time. When I first had a boy, I didn't really think much about what I used to wash his hair....because obviously boy hair is 100 times easier than girl hair right? But what I now realize is that healthy and gorgeous boy hair starts with a good foundation of products. When we started using SoCozy products I immediately noticed a difference in the texture and softness of Hudson's hair.

Little Boy Hair Care Routine

2. Save time. If you have a boy, you know time is not on your side. Boys are busy busy busy.....and don't like to constantly have mom messing with their hair. So I'm straight up obsessed with SoCozy's 3 in 1 shampoo + conditioner + body wash. Hudson doesn't want to take away from his precious playing time by waiting for me to wash him with 3 separate products....so now we use just one product at bath time and we are done. It's a boy-mama's dream come true.

Little Boy Hair Care Routine

3. Use a detangler. We use SoCozy's detangler and it smells so good. And I can spray it on Hudson's hair and forget about it.

4. Let hair air dry. This is totally a given for boys, but it needs to be said. Forget the hairdryer and let that soft and gorgeous hair air dry! It doesn't take long!

Little Boy Hair Care Routine

5. Use a kid-friendly styling cream. Again, SoCozy to the rescue. In the morning I squeeze some of it in to my hands, try and corner Hudson/distract him as much as possible, and then style that hair at LIGHTNING speed. I mean it mamas....WORK FAST.

Little Boy Hair Care Routine

And that's it! Super cute boy hair! If you haven't heard about SoCozy products you need to go out and try them NOW. I'm serious! SoCozy is a line of salon formulas for the unique hair needs of kids between the ages of 2 and 12 years old. The products are non-toxic and made without parabens, formaldehyde, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol. They are also free of alcohol, gluten, wheat, peanuts and tree nuts....so they are safe and effective – and completely non-toxic – it’s great hair minus the harsh chemicals!

To Find Out, or Not to Find Out

October 13, 2016

That's been the BIG question over here. Do we find out this baby's gender, or should we be surprised?

 photo Hudson_23.jpg

Faithful readers may remember that when I was pregnant with Hudson, we opted to find out the gender. In my mind at the time there was just NO WAY I could not find out. I was an anxious and nervous mama-to-be and wanted to get the nursery decorating done...and wanted to get my shop on and buy ALL THE CUTE BABY CLOTHES. So when we found out we were having a boy during the anatomy ultrasound scan, we were super excited!

 photo 7O8A7517.jpg

When I was pregnant with Sadie, Jon and I both decided that it would be fun to not find out the gender until the baby was born. And it was SO fun. But so hard too. Decorating the nursery and picking out baby names was tough. We went in to the delivery room with 5 boy names and 5 girl names....it was hard! But it was so exciting at the same time. You can see Sadie's gender neutral nursery here. I love how it turned out. And you can read about how exciting it was to meet our baby GIRL here.

So with baby #3, I just assumed we would wait to find out again. But it turns out Jon had different plans. As much as we both loved being surprised, he preferred knowing in advance. And I preferred not knowing.

So....what to do???

Jon said he could find out and I could be surprised. Simple. But not really. It took a lot of resolve to not peak during that gender ultrasound scan with baby #2. And without each other I don't think we could have done it.

Also, if you know Jon, you know there is a big problem with his idea. He will either 1. tease me to death and drive me crazy with slip ups of "it's a boy", or "no, it's a girl." Or he will 2. actually slip up. or 3. tell someone else because he can't keep a secret. And that's just not happening.

So.....needless to say, we are finding out the gender this time! And I'm SO excited. My ultrasound is next week and we plan to do the whole be-suprised-by-a-cake thing this time around.

So what are your guesses? I keep going back and forth....yesterday I was team girl but today I'm team boy. So we'll see!!!

Pumpkin Patchin'

October 10, 2016

 photo IMG_4331.jpg

This weekend Jon and I got away for a few days to celebrate our anniversary...and it was heavenly. We slept in until 8am (#momproblems) and ate lots of yummy food. Can we do that every weekend?

We came back to two sweet kiddos who were over the moon excited to see us. You can't beat that, right?

We also managed a trip to the pumpkin patch!

 photo IMG_4330.jpg

Sadie was in awe of all the pumpkins. This is the third or fourth year we've gone to this pumpkin patch and we love how simple and fun it is!

 photo IMG_4329.jpg

But she was a little scared of the tractor that would go by.

 photo IMG_4328.jpg

Sadie and daddy. Melt my heart.

 photo IMG_4321.jpg

Sadie loved carrying around her own pumpkin...turns out girl has some strong muscles!

 photo IMG_4319.jpg

Picking the perfect pumpkins to take home.

 photo IMG_4327.jpg

And even though he wanted to bring home ALL THE PUMPKINS, Hudson eventually settled on the perfect four. And he can't wait to carve and decorate them!
