Christmas 2015

December 30, 2015

We had the BEST Christmas. Christmas with little kids is simply the most wonderful thing ever. For the past week Hudson has been waking up in the morning asking if it was Christmas yet....he was so dang excited. Too excited to even go to sleep on Christmas Eve. My husband had to pull the old "Santa was just on the roof but had to leave because you are still awake" trick in order to get him to sleep. And it worked like a charm. Noted.

We have learned to not put bows on any of Hudson's presents. He's all "nobody's got time for that."

Santa knocked the socks off of these two like nobody's business.

This little lady had no clue what was happening, but she rolled with it.

The big hits of the day were this giant recycling truck and these remote controlled cars (one for Hudson and one for Daddy of course) and Violet the puppy and this tea set for Sadie. I'm dying over the tea set. It's so stinkin' cute. She obviously doesn't know how to play with it but LOVES to clank the cups around...and big brother has been enjoying making tea too!

The kids and I made these little ornaments as a keepsake and as gifts for family....they turned out too cute. I still need to make a salt dough ornament out of Sadie's's on my to do list for today! Also, side note, Hudson had an epic fit when he saw I made his handprint in to a reindeer and cut it out. He DOES NOT LIKE seeing it on the tree and is sure to remind me each morning of his unhappiness. #threenager

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas!

Pom Pom Love

December 21, 2015

Can you believe it? Only 4 sleeps 'til Christmas! This little girl's mind is about to be blown. She's going to have so much fun. I can tell you right now she'll probably love the wrapping paper and bows a whole lot more than any present she receives. Oh well.

And yes....I take a lot of photos of this gal. But I can't help it. She's too cute for words. Plus she's the only one who will sit still long enough for me to snap a photo. I remember Hudson wearing this hat when he was this age...

Nope, that's not Sadie. Can you believe how much these two look alike? And yay for mommy getting a better camera.

Wasn't it just yesterday that Hudson was this small? My heart can't handle it. Time needs to slow down.

Happy Christmas week from my pom pom wearing cuties!

Giving Back

December 18, 2015

This Christmas we have been looking for ways to teach our children how to give back to others. Not just at Christmas, but throughout the year.

I've been talking to Hudson about children who do not have as many toys as he does, or children who do not have mommies and daddies to take care of them. He's only 3, so he really can't comprehend other kids not having everything that he has. He also can't comprehend not getting toys at Christmas. And it just breaks my heart that not every child will have what he has. It's our goal to help him become more aware and have a desire in his heart to help others and to give back to others.

That's why I love that Hickory Farms is a supporter of No Kid Hungry®. No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need every day. Hickory Farms has contributed more than $4 million to No Kid Hungry since 2008. For every Signature Party Planner purchased this holiday season, Hickory Farms will donate $5 to No Kid Hungry. How great is that?

Hickory Farms offers a wide variety of food gifts that are perfect for any budget and for everyone on yourlist this year. We loved our sausage and cheese box. It was so delicious!

Quality, freshness and value are key traits of Hickory Farms’ gift and products and you can really tell when you take a bite! I'm off to the mall to buy some more for gifts! Hickory Farms’ food gifts are available at Holiday Market locations nationwide and at leading retailers.

How are you giving back this season?

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

December 16, 2015

As part of our countdown to Christmas, Hudson and I made peppermint hot chocolate! He LOVED it....and I did too!

Was it a made-from-scratch pinterest recipe? No. It was just a store bought mix + some marshmallows + a candy cane. But in this season of our lives making everything perfect doesn't really matter.

Memories were made....that's the important part, right?

And it was SO yummy. In fact, we are probably making it again today.

I just love this time of year. Taking some time to sip hot chocolate by the Christmas tree is my favorite.

Hudson especially loved drinking his hot chocolate out of his snowman mug! Of course everyone got a personalized mug, even Sadie.

But no hot chocolate for this little reindeer this year. Maybe next year! She got a peppermint striped straw to chew on, so she didn't seem to mind.

Snowman Mugs from Personal Creations found here. They are so cute and so fun! Discounts on your Personal Creations order can be found here

Christmas Wish-List

December 15, 2015

Christmas Wish List
Diamond Pendant / Lily Jade Bag / Beauty Counter Tinted Moisturizer / Buxom Lip Gloss / Pendant
J.Crew Slippers / Earrings / Purity / Old Navy Jammies / Roomba

My Christmas wish list is pretty short this year....basically I'm getting a new house (and all that comes along with it) what else could I really ask for?

My husband laughed at me when I asked for a robot vacuum. And then he really laughed when I asked for a live-in maid. Because #priorities.

And I want a new purse but I know my husband will think it isn't "fun" enough. He obviously doesn't understand just how fun a new bag can be when you are a mom and you need to carry a HUGE BAG with all your junk in it at all times.

Also, give me all the cozy slippers and pajamas.

And diamonds. If any of these pretties showed up under the tree for me, I certainly won't complain. I don't really think there is a gift as romantic as jewelry. I was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful diamond jewelry I found at Zales!

At the top of my list is these diamond double frame studs. I've always wanted diamond earrings, and LOVE the look of these. They could be dressed up or worn every day....just what this mama needs!

This diamond double frame pendant that goes with the earrings is also calling my name. It has just the right amount of sparkle and would go with everything.

I also really like this Unstoppable Love diamond frame pendant. So so so pretty.

What's on your Christmas wish list? Are you getting any diamonds this year?

Gingerbread Houses and Matching Jammies

December 14, 2015

This past weekend we got together with our good friends John and Ali and their two little ones. They live a few hours away so we don't get to see them as often as we like, which is a shame because the kids LOVED hanging out together!

Seriously love these kiddos! Ali and I have been plotting to get a matching jammie pic....which our husbands thought was ridiculous, I'm sure. But how cute are they???? This was one of the only ones that didn't turn out blurry! These four were too busy laughing, wrestling, and messing around to pose for a picture!

We brought gingerbread house kits for the boys to decorate....and it was a BIG hit! I was worried more candy would end up in their bellies than on the houses, but the boys were so good and only ate a few pieces. They had so much fun was adorable. But in true three year old form, they tired out after about a half an hour, which meant that the dads had to take over.

It turned in to a little bit of a competition....and I'm sad to say my husband lost. If you knew these two you wouldn't be surprised.

But look how cute it turned out! The gingerbread house kits (from Costco!) came with some candy but I also brought a few extra bags just in case....and we totally used it all.

I did this side! The whole time I tried to get Hudson to make a wreath out of the holly and berries, but he didn't go for it. Thankfully I got my chance when he was done! Hudson did the roof and my husband did that left side. Not too shabby!

We had such a fun weekend! Christmas with kids is seriously the best.

Oh Heeeyyyyy Friday

December 11, 2015

This week flew by. I felt like I spent the week racing back and forth between preschool, playdates with friends, swim lessons, and a ton of little errands. And I still haven't unpacked from my trip!

{one} These two.....totally nailed the Christmas card photo. Patting myself on the back for snapping that one.

{two} But don't go thinking my kids are perfect. For every adorable photo I snap, I take at least 50 flops. But sometimes the flops turn out pretty good to. Haha. Hell hath no fury like a 3 year old who doens't want their picture taken. Hudson was DONE. When I'm over it I feel like just laying on the ground too. Can't blame him one bit.

{three} I owe you all a house update! It actually is coming along right on schedule! I can't believe it. We should move in sometime in February. I promise you a big fat "building a house" post soon...maybe once things settle down a bit. Or maybe next week. Who knows. I like to keep you on your toes.

We did a walk-through last week and the trim guy was there working. He showed us the paneling that was planned for the mud room area and I fell in love....and asked him to give us a quote for adding the same paneling to the entry way. The quote came back while I was in California and my husband gave them the go-ahead to do it. Merry Christmas to me!

1 / 2 / 3
{four} I need a long, gold bridesmaid dress for a wedding I'm in this February. I've purchased all of these dresses so far and am still trying to decide if one of them will work. I'm kind of go big or go home with this dress. I mean, how often do you get an excuse to wear a fancy gold dress? My post-partum body is just so weird...nothing fits me right. And even though my baby weight fell off the first time around from just breastfeeding, it doesn't seem to be happening as fast this time. All those cookies I've been eating probably hasn't helped matters either.

{five} Speaking of cookies.....we are making these again. They weBetty Crocker just gave me permission to host ANOTHER giveaway for $20 PayPal cash! It's super easy to win! Enter below. And check out the original post for more cookie goodness and another chance to win. I'm like Oprah "You get some cash! You get some cash!"

Are soooooo good. And yes, it's a sponsored post BUT the folks at

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Have a great weekend my friends!

Oh Hey Friday with September Farm and The Farmer's Wife.
