Making the Most of Our Time

It's officially baby month! We are counting down the days until this little babe joins our family....and although we are so excited, we are a little sad too. Hudson's whole world is about to be turned upside down and I can't help but worry about how he will handle the transition to big brother. Will he struggle with not being the center of our attention at all times? Will he feel sad or jealous? Will he act out? Or will he completely shock us all and handle it like a champ? Regardless, I've been trying to soak up every last minute as just the three of us. We've done all of his favorite things: Lots of trips to the library for new books, visits to the park and bounce place, and mommy and Hudson dates to build-a-bear and five guys. It's been non-stop fun for our boy and I hope he knows just how much we love him, and always will. I know that he will be spoiled rotten by our family while we are in the hospital having this baby.....but I worry most about how he will cope once all the fun and fanfare dies down.

We've been spending lots of time outside with Hudson, enjoying our neighborhood, the park, and local community. Our area is so pretty and it's time for us to give back! I've teamed up with Huggies to nominate the Grand Rapids Urban Forest Project for their #UltraHug Selfie Contest. The Grand Rapids Urban Forest Project seeks to engage the entire community in growing a larger, healthier urban forest. From planting to pruning, they are doing their part to maximize the tree canopy in all parts of the city so that everyone in Grand Rapids can experience the cultural, social, economic, public health, and environmental benefits of trees. The abundance of trees in my area is something I really appreciate and want Hudson to learn to love too!

From April 20th until June 25th, you can nominate your community project by uploading a selfie of you and your baby to Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #UltraHug. Huggies will be accepting all selfies of you and your baby with the hashtag #UltraHug, and featuring them in a collage on the campaign landing page. On July 6th, voting will begin to narrow down the 20 finalists to 10 winners who will win a $2,000 grant from Huggies for their nominated community initiative.

  7. Woohoo! Baby month!!! Love these photos - so beautiful! And don't worry, Julie. I had the same concerns about Caleb with a new baby, and he's done great. So I'm sure that Hudson will rock the big brother role!:)

  8. It's baby month for us too, and I'm feeling exactly the same way! Trying to fit in as many of my son's favorite things now before there are newborn needs to consider as well. Siblings are a huge blessing in the long run, but everything is so dramatic with toddlers, it's hard to say how they'll react. Most likely happy one moment, and like the world is ending the next, since that's pretty much how he handles everything right now ;) Best wishes for the upcoming birth and Hudson's transition to big bro!

  12. These photos are amazing!!! Hudson is going to do great. Even if he struggles, he'll be fine because you are giving him the best gift in the world...a brother! Mac was a nightmare for a while (still is at times), but I know that maybe not being the center of the universe is a good thing and so is learning to share and learning to wait and be patient and help with the baby. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself! :)
