5 on Friday

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG
High five for Friday! Today I'm linking up with the lovely ladies of The Good LifeCarolina CharmA. Liz Adventures, and Hello Happiness and you should too! Let's get this party started...

{one} I ordered two of these personalized mason jars for Hudson for smoothies (from Remembered Once More on Etsy) and I'm in LOVE! Excuse the grumpy just woke up face. We got one with tractors and one with a fire truck. Hudson loves them too!

{two} The snow....totally deserves it's own post. How is it that Atlanta shuts down when they get 2 inches, yet I am literally drowning in three feet of snow and still have to drive in to work. I'm living in the wrong state. (In all seriousness, if you were caught in the horrible traffic in Atlanta I am sending you a big fat hug. Because that sounded horrible.)

{three} This necklace. There are no words. It needs to find a home in my closet asap.

{four} I know way too much about these shows. It's not even funny. Hudson doesn't even watch them....I have no excuse.

{five} This week I shared info about REPREVE....a company that turns recycled plastic bottles in to cool stuff like this neon beanie....you can win $5,000 if you enter their contest. It's kind of cool and I would love for you to just check it out really quickly. I promise I wouldn't blog about it if I couldn't stand behind it!

Makin' Valentines

photo IMG_5039.jpgI've been looking forward to making Valentine's Day cards with Hudson all year! I know that soon enough he probably won't care about cards....or want batman and superman cards....so I'm taking advantage of the fact that I can do whatever I want! I found these adorable dinosaur cards here. I'm obsessed with them and they are perfect for a rambunctious little boy! I sent them to kinkos to be printed, then cut them out and backed them on pink chevron and red paper.

photo IMG_5070.jpgThen, Hudson decorated the back of them with heart stickers and crayons. He had a blast.

photo IMG_5053.jpgHe's obsessed with stickers and putting them on his belly or my face. Can I just bottle him up and keep him forever?

photo IMG_5058.jpgI'm excited to give these to Hudson's daycare buddies and friends! They would be super cute with a little dinosaur toy attached, but some of Hudson's friends are a little too young for a small toy.

photo IMG_5044.jpgSooo...we attached a few fun dinosaur stickers to each card! And wrapped them up with red baker's twine....my favorite.

What are you doing with your littles for Valentine's day?

Turn it Green!

Recycling and taking care of the earth is something that has always been important to me....and I want to make sure Hudson does his part to help live a greener lifestyle! That is why I'm so exited to talk to you  today about REPREVE. They turn recycled plastic bottles into cool stuff that you can wear....how awesome is that?
The luckiest plastic bottles get made into a recycled fleece beanie made from REPREVE. One REPREVE green beanie is made from 6 recycled plastic bottles!

Isn't that crazy? And the luckiest of the REPREVE beanies get to grace my head...ha!

The U.S. plastic bottle recycling rate is less than 30 percent—so less than one-third of all plastic bottles get recycled. Most people don’t think about what happens to plastic bottles after you recycle them. So REPREVE is on a mission to get the word out: Just recycle more.

Here are 5 things I'm doing to help teach Hudson to turn it green:
 1. Recycle. We ALWAYS recycle and are teaching him how much fun it can be!

2. Re-use. We've repurposed and re-used a lot of Hudson's toys. We got his used play kitchen for free and fixed it up for him! We've also gotten lots of used toys from church sales and he even has a few of my own toys from when I was little.

3. Conserve water. This is a no-brainer. We talk about this with Hudson when we brush his teeth.

4. Grow a garden. Each spring my husband plants a little garden in our back yard so that we have fresh veggies all summer. This year Hudson is going to be his helper!

5. Drink from a re-usable water bottle. We keep it green by drinking out of these instead of buying tons and tons of plastic bottles.

What tips do you have for teaching your children to lead a sustainable lifestyle? Be sure to enter the REPREVE contest by creating an image or video of how you practice these tips and share your submission on their Instagram, Twitter or Vine with the hashtag #TurnItGreen and tag @REPREVE.

REPREVE will take recycling to new heights with a special green event at the 2014 Winter X Games Aspen (Jan. 23-26, 2014).

REPREVE sponsored this post — but my love for sustainability and turning it green is all my own.

5 ways in which I don't have it all together

1. I spent Saturday night in tears over my blog domain registration. I waited until the very last minute (as usual) to renew it and couldn't remember my stupid google apps login and password. Because I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I HAD GOOGLE APPS. And everything might has well have been written in ancient Greek because who UNDERSTANDS GOOGLE TECH SPEAK? Certainly not me. Oh my word, it was confusing. Thank God for my husband who calmed me down mid panic attack and helped me figure it out. Stupid Google. I'm not friends with you anymore.

2. We are still rocking our Christmas jammies.

3. See all this junk currently living on my stairs? It's been there for at least 5 days....and I have no plans of actually putting it all away. It's where folded laundry and random things that should go upstairs have gone to die.
4. My mailbox looks like this. My email inbox is even worse. I have about 33 emails that I've read, then marked "unread" so that I can deal with them later. Five days later and I they are still there....I'm in denial.

5. Thanks to a broken sink drain and a curious kitty, I've fished my wedding ring out of the drain more times than I care to count.
