Follow the Yellow Brick Road....and a Winner

I'm SO sorry I didn't have a chance to announce the Shabby Apple Giveaway winner yesterday! We've had a busy weekend!

Have you ever seen a pin on Pinterest that you just had to make but never got around to it? Well luckily two of my favorite bloggers are motivating me to start making all of these fun projects! Baby hand print on a baseball....a perfect keepsake for a baseball loving husband like mine!

Here's what you'll need: A clean baseball and an ink pad. This project cost me zero dollars since I already had the baseball on hand thanks to my husband and stole an ink pad from the hospital when Hudson was born. That's right, I've resulted to a life of crime all for the sake of this blog! Oh and I recommend a sleeping baby for this project too. It's not mandatory that the baby be adorable.....but luckily mine is!

 

 All you need to do is put the baby's hand in the ink and then stamp it on the baseball. Sounds easy right?

 Well, it's not.

 Even though he was sleeping, Hudson wanted NO PART in this project. There's a reason they only do foot prints at the hospital...babies hands are tricky! We got ink everywhere. Mostly on me.

 I did a few practice runs on a piece of paper. I think this step was unnecessary...it turned out to be easier to stamp the baseball than it was the paper because the ball is round and the baby automatically grips it. So skip this step and just go for it.

 Here's the finished product! It turned out super cute!

 I'm just now realizing I forgot to write his name on the ball. I have mommy brain! Oh, and here's another tip: have a baby wipe on hand to use to clean up any smudges you accidentally get on the ball. But do it quickly before the ink dries! I used Hudson's left hand for this since my husband has high hopes of him being a left-handed pitcher some day. I'm considerate like that.

By the way, this happened....

 One of these prints is not like the other...someone stepped on the ink pad which resulted in this little gem.

Touches of Fall

I know I've been a bad blogger lately...I've been busy loving on our little guy and enjoying the absolutely beautiful fall weather! Fall is my most favorite time of year...I wish it didn't go by so quickly!

Luckily it hasn't been too cold to go for a walk. Why can't it look like this all year round?

 And I'm finally getting around to showing you our fall front porch! I can't take credit for any of this....my mom gave us all of the pumpkins and mums!

 Welcome to our home! The red wagon is still on our porch from my baby shower....it looks so cute that I think it will stay for a bit longer.

 My go-to wreath is still looking good! And still sporting one of our "boy oh boy" baby shower flags!

We have some touches of fall inside our house too.

I LOVE mini pumpkins....aren't they just the cutest?

All bundled up for our daily walk.

And of course I have to include a photo of my little pumpkin! He is growing so fast!

Have you been able to enjoy a little fall this season?

Hudson: One Month

Hudson turned one month on our 4th anniversary, October 5th....so I'm a little late on his one month post. Being a mommy is hard work, but I LOVE it! I can't believe my little guy is already one month old! It's going by so fast.

 Weight: Not exactly sure....but at 3 weeks he was 9 pounds 7 ounces (up from 7 pounds 9 ounces at birth)...so I'm going to guess he is at least 10 pounds now. And he is 21 inches long (up from 20 at birth). 

 Health: We've got a healthy little guy!

Sleep: Sleep....what's that? Hudson sometimes sleeps 2 hours and sometimes 4. He is unpredictable at the moment...good thing I'm on maternity leave!

Diet: 100% breast milk. I'm so thankful that breastfeeding has been easy and that Hudson eats like a champ.

Clothes: Hudson has grown out of his newborn clothes! I was so sad to pack them away. Right now he wears 0-3 months.

Baby Gear Love: Right now the only gear he loves is the moby wrap. He loves to be close to his mommy....and I'm not complaining one bit! He's starting to like his swing, but not as much as I had hoped. 

Crying: Hudson cries when he is tired, hungry, or gassy. He's usually fussy for about two hours before bedtime. Hopefully that ends soon!

 Likes: Eating! And taking naps on my chest. He also LOVES taking a bath. It calms him down when he is fussy at night.

 Postpartum: Let me just say this...c-sections are zero fun. It took me about 3 weeks to recover and actually feel a little more normal. By 4 weeks I hardly ever notice my incision. However it is true what they say about breastfeeding...it totally helps take the weight off! I'm not back to my pre-pregnancy weight yet but the pounds have been coming off without much effort. 

Milestones: Making eye contact, sleeping longer stretches (sometimes!)

Hudson's Newborn Photos

I know I'm totally biased....but I think Hudson is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen. We had these newborn photos taken of him when he was just 5 days old. They were taken the talented Miranda Batchelder, who also took our gorgeous maternity photos. If you have a newborn don't skip out on this kind of session! I will cherish these photos forever!
