Is it just me, or......Olympic Edition

Is it just me, or are the US Olympic track suits they wear for medal ceremonies ugly? (Nothing against Missy Franklin....I think she is adorable.)

Is it just me, or was the opening ceremonies kind of weird? Without the commentary I would have had no clue what was going on.

But the Mary Poppins invasion was one of my favorite parts.

Is it just me, or have you had enough of Michael Phelps? Over it.

Is it just me, or is the video of US gymnast Aly Raisman's parents watching her perform just about the cutest/funniest thing you've ever seen? They love their girl.

Is it just me, or is it beyond cute to see William and Harry cheering on their team?

Is it just me, or was the Today Show segment on Speed Walking all kinds of awesome?

Baby Shower Round Two

I mentioned last week that I work with some wonderful people. Thankfully, so does the husband! On Thursday his co-workers put together an awesome shower for us and Baby R.

And it was baseball themed! They know the husband well. 

There were cute baseball lanterns everywhere. I'll have to try to find a way to incorporate them in to the nursery. 

I forgot to get a photo of all the food...everything was so yummy! But I did get a pic of the cake! It was seriously amazing....luckily the husband brought a few more slices home afterwards (although I think that was mostly his friend Hillary's doing....thanks Hillary!)

We were both blown away by the generosity of the husband's co-workers.

34 Weeks

How far along? 34 weeks. They say that newborn babies can recognize their mama's singing voice if she sings to them while still pregnant. But I'm not sure baby boy wants to here his mama sing off key! Anyway, it is crazy how fast this pregnancy is going. It seemed like it took forever for me to get to 12 weeks....and now it's just flying by. 

Maternity clothes? Still a mix of maternity and non-maternity. 

Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not so great. I am starting to wake up with some mild hip and back pain.
Best moment this week: Antiquing with my mom over the weekend and my work shower on Monday! Oh, and finding out that baby boy is head down at my doctor's appointment this week. Let's hope he stays that way.
Miss Anything? Not really.
Movement: Yes! And I've been feeling baby boy's hiccups this week too....so cute.
Food cravings: Anything cold! Strawberries, lemonade, ice cream, and iced tea.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No.  

Gender: Baby boy

 Labor Signs: None.

Symptoms: My fingers and toes swell when I get hot....and some mild back pain. I am so thankful that I've had a really easy pregnancy so far. 

Belly Button in or out? Still in....but it's totally flat. 

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Happy and overwhelmed still.....my kitchen is a total disaster zone. The painting should be finished today so hopefully I can get everything back together soon. I'm so glad we are doing this before the baby is born. To all my pregnant or soon-to-be-pregnant friends...do your house projects NOW!

Looking forward to: The husband's work baby shower today and getting some stuff done in the nursery this weekend. I'm a big time procrastinator so we have a ton left to do!

Work Baby Shower

On Monday my fabulous co-workers put together an adorable shower for me! It was a baseball theme and everything turned out super cute.

 There was a make your own coney dog station....so yummy!

Cracker Jacks, pop corn, and baseball cupcakes!

 Two of my favorite co-workers, Kaleena and Danielle organized everything and made me feel so special. I'm very lucky to work with some wonderful people. Usually just women attend the showers at our work, but I made sure my co-worker David was invited too! (And I told him he had no choice and must attend....he was a good sport!)

We got some adorable stuff for baby R!

And we also got our swing! I am SO excited to get it set up!

And Kaleena made this adorable grown chart ruler for the baby's room. I'm in love.

I could have eaten 5 of these! I brought some home for the husband and they were gone before dinner!

Monday Monday

Happy Monday! There's been some progress on our kitchen makeover! Even though it's not done I'm already in love with the white cabinets. 

Please excuse the iphone photos. 

 The island turned out amazing. And now that everything is white our kitchen looks so much bigger.

 The cabinet doors should be finished this week....can't wait to have my kitchen back!

In order to avoid the paint fumes we all hung out upstairs in our bedroom.....our animals didn't seem to mind one bit and loved being all together.

It was still sort of paint fumy on Saturday so we headed to the lake to get away. My mom and I decided to paint the old high chair I used as a baby red....and it turned out SO cute! She ended up buying another chair for her house that we painted blue.

 Aren't they perfect? I can't pick a favorite...they are both adorable! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

33 Weeks

 How far along? 33 weeks. If baby weighs 4 pounds, how come I've gained 18? Seriously though the weight gain hasn't bothered me as much as I thought it would. Before I was pregnant I worried about gaining a ton of weight and then not being able to loose it. But now that I'm actually pregnant it doesn't bug me at all....it's all about the baby!

Maternity clothes? Still a mix of maternity and non-maternity. 

Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: It's been rough lately. I wake up several times throughout the night and have a little trouble falling back asleep. I had 32 weeks of excellent sleep though, so I can't complain!
Best moment this week:  Going to Ikea with my mom, starting our kitchen makeover, and birthday celebrations. 
Miss Anything? Not really.

Movement: Yes, and I love it!

Food cravings: Ice cream and fruit....so nothing new!

Anything making you queasy or sick: No.  

Gender: Baby boy

 Labor Signs: None.

Symptoms: Still some swelling in my fingers when I work out or when it's hot, but that's it.

Belly Button in or out? Still in!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Happy and overwhelmed. 

Looking forward to: We have two baby showers next week and I can't wait!

Going White

It's happening tomorrow. We are going white. With our kitchen cabinets that is. I'm excited and terrified at the same time!

I am now the unofficial expert on shades of white paint made by Benjamin Moore. There are WAY to many options. After some research I narrowed it down to three whites: White Dove, Simply White, and Decorators White.

White Dove was a little too yellow.....and Decorators White was too cool. So in the end, the Simply White wins!

I hope I'm making the right decision. It's such a big step and I'm terrified of picking the wrong shade. Pregnancy hormones + way too many decisions = stressed out Julie.

Oh Ikea

Happy Monday! I had a fabulous birthday weekend! My mom asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday....and the only thing I really wanted was to go to Ikea! So we did! I grew up with several Ikea locations around me, so it was never a big deal to pop in for a quick visit. But now, Ikea is over 2 hours away....so it's totally an all day trip!

Baby's first (and probably last) trip to Ikea. There were so many screaming kids there that day.....remind me to never bring baby boy with me. 

First thing we did when we got there was have some chocolate cake! It was amazing! And unfortunately this is the last picture I took. It was super crowded that day and I was overwhelmed with decisions. I ended up buying curtains for the baby's room and for our room, a few frames, and a small dresser for our room. Once I get everything up I'll be sure to post photos!

We also went to another favorite store that is just down the street.....Home Goods! Buy Buy Baby was right next door so we got a laugh out of parking in the Expectant Mothers spot! I had to document it! At Home Goods I bought a hamper for the nursery and my mom found some cute wire baskets. Then we ended our trip with a visit to Trader Joe's. Talk about the perfect day!

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, working on the nursery, and watching Sophie and Wrigley play together. All of a sudden they are best friends, and I love it!

Thanks for all the birthday love....you guys are the best!

32 Weeks

 How far along? 32 weeks...only 8 more to go! This pregnancy is flying by.
Maternity clothes? Still a mix of maternity and non-maternity. 

Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: I'm starting to have a harder time finding a comfortable position at night, but at least once I do I fall asleep quickly. Still getting up twice to go to the bathroom. 

Best moment this week:  Taking our maternity photos...the husband was so sweet the entire time, and we just love our photographer. And a special thank you goes out to all of you for your sweet comments on our sneak peak photos....you all sure know how to make a big pregnant girl feel good!  

Miss Anything? I miss sleeping on my stomach, but that's really it!

Movement: Still lots of movement going on in there. My doctor couldn't tell if baby boy is head first or butt first...he was moving too much.

Food cravings: I'm sticking with fruit and ice cream....sometimes that's all I want for dinner!

Anything making you queasy or sick: No.  

Gender: Baby boy

 Labor Signs: None.

Symptoms: Still some swelling in my fingers when I work out or when it's hot. And it's getting harder to take a deep breath....little guy is taking up too much room in there.

Belly Button in or out? In, but it's getting flatter...I prefer not to really look at it!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: Happy...I'm sometimes stressed and overwhelmed but I don't think I've ever been this happy!

Looking forward to: My birthday on Saturday and starting our kitchen upgrade next week!
