Antique Finds

Good morning! I hope you all had a fun weekend! On Sunday my mom and I went to the antique fair and had a blast. We were there for almost 5 hours! Needless to say I was exhausted...but it was nothing a corn dog and elephant ear couldn't fix!

The husband was surprised with how little we actually bought. Don't get me wrong....there were tons of things we wanted....but didn't want to pay their price! My mom got an old canoe paddle for the lake house. I think we may collect a few more and hang them on her wall. We got tons of "where's your canoe?" or "the lake is that way" comments. Everyone's a comedian. I also got a cute milk basket thing....no clue what I'm going to do with it!

We couldn't resist this mini stool. I kept calling it the time out chair for baby R!

And I added two letterpress "R's" to my collection. Now I just need to decide what to do with them.

I also picked up two of these Hudsonville (a city in Michigan) Creamery wire baskets for cheap. I plan to use them on the changing table in baby R's room. This changing table was mine as a baby....it's sitting in our basement waiting to be painted!

How was your weekend?

21 Weeks

 How far along? 21 weeks. Baby is 10.5 inches long, the size of a banana. Crazy!

Maternity clothes? I did get several things during my trip to Detroit and again while shopping with my mom but I haven't really worn anything yet other than some long tank tops. My maternity dress pants from the Gap are a little too big but should fit in the next month or so. I'm totally rocking the maternity leggings though...they are super comfy. And I'm still fitting into my normal tops and dresses. 

Stretch marks? Not yet.
Sleep: The same....getting up twice to go to the bathroom. I have a feeling I would sleep much better if I didn't have Henry on one side of me and Sophie on the other. But I don't have the heart to kick them out of bed, especially since they are in for a rude awakening once the baby arrives.
Best moment this week:  Painting the nursery and setting up the crib. And finding a daycare option that we totally love.

Miss Anything? Nope! 
Movement: Little kicks and jabs throughout the day. Of course when I try to have the husband feel them our little guy stops moving. Figures.
Food cravings: Corn on the cob, fajitas, and chocolate milk. All of which I've indulged in this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really. I'm still staying away from carrots and broccoli but they don't make me feel sick, they just don't sound appetizing.
Gender: It's a boy!

Labor Signs: Way too early. 
Symptoms: I'm starting to feel pregnant this week....and people are noticing my little bump! 

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood: I really couldn't be happier!

Looking forward to: Going to the flea market with my mom this weekend. We have a whole list of stuff we "need" for the baby and for my house. Can't wait!

Happy Pinteresting Wednesday! Pinterest has sure helped me formulate my ideas for a nursery. I don't mean to only blog about our baby boy...but I can't help myself! We are so excited to start working on his nursery.....you know me....any excuse to decorate is well welcomed in my opinion! I mean, how often do you get to decorate a room from scratch? Week in Instagram

Good morning! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend...we sure did. With all of the baby boy excitement last week I didn't get a chance to tell you about our weekend with our friends Mo and Ali. They live about 2 hours away so it's always a treat when we get to spend a whole weekend together! Mo and Ali are expecting a sweet baby boy about two months before us....we can't wait to have our little guys play together! Mo and my husband are already plotting out when to start baseball drills.

Ali and I went maternity clothes shopping on Saturday and it was so fun! So many of the dresses looked ridiculous on me....but when I had Ali try them on they looked so cute! It helps to shop with someone with a cute baby bump!

On Sunday we went to a Red Wings playoff game....Mo scored row 5 seats and they were awesome! We had so much fun.

Our drinks of choice for the game. That Icee totally hit the spot for the two pregnant ladies!

My husband picked the longest/weirdest last name that he could.

This past weekend we got a ton done around the house.

Got some baby toys....can you tell the husband picked these out? And yes, that is a stuffed Chewbacca. He talks. And the tractor lights up and honks.

On Saturday we painted the nursery. It looks SO good and we are so happy with it. Real photos coming soon.

How was your weekend?

20 Weeks

 

How far along? 20 weeks. Baby is the length of a banana. 

Maternity clothes? I need maternity pants for sure. The bump is taking over! Luckily I was able to get a few things this weekend with my friend Ali and again with my mom on Monday. 

Stretch marks? Not yet.
Sleep: Still getting up twice each night to go to the bathroom, but other than that it's okay.
Best moment this week:  Finding out we are having a sweet baby boy! Everything seems so much more real now....we are actually having a baby!

Miss Anything? Nope!
Movement: Absolutely! Our little guy is super active. The ultrasound tech even said he was really wiggly. The husband was able to feel him move for the first time this week...it was such a fun moment.
Food cravings: Chocolate milk, bread with butter, and candy for sure.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still just carrots and broccoli.
Gender: Healthy little boy! And no, we don't have a name for him yet. We'll probably make a list to take to the hospital and then decide once we meet our little guy.

Labor Signs: Way too early. 
Symptoms: Starting to really feel pregnant this week....you can finally see my little bump!

Oh Boy!

Well.....I was right! It's a boy! There's no doubt about it...within seconds of our ultrasound our little man showed his bits and we knew! We are excited to have a little boy on the way! And the best part? He's perfect! Such a relief to these parents to be!

As you can tell, the husband is a little excited to teach his son how to throw an baseball and football. I have a feeling I'll be attending a ton of sports activities in my future!

My mom and I shopped our little hearts out but surprisingly showed a lot of restraint. We know we have so much time to buy for this little guy!

 Of course I teased you on instagram.....I had to!

 Happy Monday! I have never in my life been so excited for it to be Monday.....because today we find out if baby "R" is a boy or a girl! We are off to the doctor this morning and can't wait! A few of you suggested I run through the "old wives tales" about gender prediction just for fun....so here we go!

19 Weeks

How far along? 19 weeks. Baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and is 6 inches head to bottom. 

Maternity clothes? Not yet, but soon I'll need dress pants for work. I was thinking about ordering some online from Gap maternity....has anyone tried them? I'm unsure of what size to get since everything I have from Gap seems to be a different size and sometimes maternity clothes run big. 

Stretch marks? Not yet. I'm using Palmer's every night.  I'm almost out of it....next I think I'll try Burt's Bee's Mama Bee Belly Butter.
Sleep: I get up about twice each night to go to the bathroom, but other than that it's okay.
Best moment this week:  Feeling the baby move! The movements are stronger and much more noticeable now. It's such a crazy feeling.

Miss Anything? Not really...but I did make homemade chocolate chip cookies for the husband over the weekend and really really wanted to take a bite of cookie dough! Giving up alcohol has been super easy since I'm not much of a drinker, but man I wanted that cookie dough. But I was good and resisted. 
Movement: There's no doubt about it now! I can feel little baby moving around and it is the best!
Food cravings: Easter ham and potato casserole. We didn't have either of these on Easter and now it's all I can think about! Especially since so many of you have posted photos and recipes.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still just carrots and broccoli.
Gender: We find out on Monday! I can't wait! My mom and I both took the day off of work so that we can get our shop on! I'm so excited.

Lessons on Easter

Happy day after Easter! I hope each of you enjoyed your weekend. We sure did...but now I am exhausted.

I learned some important things over the weekend......

 Lesson One: Take the day after a holiday off. The husband was smart and took today off of work.....needless to say I was a bit jealous this morning when I had to drag my pregnant bum out of bed and he got to sleep in!

Lesson Two: Yard work + pregnancy = not a good idea. On Saturday the two of us worked in the the yard....weeding, mulching, and picking up dog poo. I only helped for about an hour and a half but I am still sore all over today. Especially my legs....ouch!

Needless to say I spent Saturday night recovering on the couch with these two.

Lesson Three: One can never have too much Easter candy. No explanation needed. My baby bump is probably not really a baby....just Peeps and Cadbury creme eggs in there. Oops.

That would be my old wagon from when I was little, courtesy of my mom. She filled it with some yummy treats and Amish sticky buns. Yum! (I added War Horse on blu-ray for the husband as a surprise!)

Lesson Four: Easter egg hunts are from here on out mandatory. I'm totally kicking myself for not doing an egg hunt for the husband....he's never done one! How is that possible? I have big plans for next year.

Lesson Five: Everyone can't wait for the baby. This one is a given...but all weekend we thought about what Easter will be like next year with a little one. This baby is the first grandchild for both of our families...needless to say we are a little bit excited.
