38 Weeks

How far along? 38 Weeks. Baby boy is the size of a pumpkin! And he is still breech. I'm still trying to get him to flip, but as for now it looks like a c-section for me. Bummer.
Maternity clothes? Mostly maternity these days!
Stretch marks? Nope....just 2 weeks to go until I'm in the clear!
Sleep: It's been rough this week. I wake up every two hours to use the bathroom and then switch which side I'm sleeping on. But once my head hits the pillow I'm out!
Best moment this week: My neighborhood baby shower and putting together the nursery with my mom. It's our last few weeks of just mom and daughter....so sad!
Miss Anything? I miss not feeling huge. The belly is taking over!
Movement: Still lots of movement, but no flipping.
Food cravings:  All I really want is a box of See's chocolates. Which is so unlike me. I'm usually not the biggest chocolate fan but it sounds so good right now! There were See's candy stores all over California, but I've never seen one in Michigan. So sad!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No.
Gender: Baby boy
Labor Signs: Zero. And we want it to stay that way until my doctor is back from vacation! Plus, if I have to have a c-section I would at least like to have it scheduled so that I can go in looking cute!
Symptoms: Swelling in my hands when I get too hot...but that's about it.
Belly Button in or out? It's flat. Baby's head keeps hitting my belly button area and it's SO sore now!
Wedding rings on or off? On...most of the time.
Mood: Overall it's good. I'm still sad about the c-section. I know I need to just get over it, but it just wasn't how I pictured things would be in my mind. I've had several good cries about it this past week, and I'm actually doing much better. But don't talk to me about it....I'll tear up! Actually it's pretty easy to get me to cry these days!
Looking forward to: Date night with my husband this weekend. We are going to relax and just enjoy each other's company.

  1. You got this! It's totally normal to mourn the birth plan you had! Still thinking of you and hoping everything "turns" out well for you! TEHE! Gotta love a little humor!

  2. You are getting SO close now. The crying alot at the end happened to me EVERY time. It can be so overwhelming. But something about that very first time you hold your baby makes it all worth every second of misery. Hang in there girl. Pure unexplainable happiness awaits you!!:)

  5. two things. the baby could still flip. he could. also c-sections although not apart of your plan are, and I only say this because I had one, aren't THAT bad. Here's why...if you give birth vaginally they give you a tylenol, if you have a c-section they give you the good stuff. You can stay at the hospital a day longer...or if you are up and walking they will send you home...but it's nice to have the option. C-sections these days are very low and the scars disappear and heal quite easily. And you're a small person so the incision will be about 4 inches...or 5. Plus you have your mom to take care of you or she can take care of the baby while you heal...Honestly in the grand scheme of newborns the c-section was the least of my worries...you got this sister!

  11. hi there! i'm a first-time commenter, but i've enjoyed following your blog and pregnancy.

i had my daughter last august, so our pregnancies are almost exactly 1 year apart. and i, too, had a frank breech baby and scheduled c-section.

it was a major bummer, but for me, the worst part was the anticipation of the c/s. after the surgery, i didn't know why i was so worked up about it. i know it's hard to see that now, but once that baby is here, you won't even be thinking of how he got here!

best of luck, and take it easy. and look on the bright side -- i checked into the hospital with a fresh mani/pedi, hair cut and color, etc. gotta find the benefits to a scheduled c/s!

  12. C-sections aren't as bad as what some people say they are. I do not have a high pain tolerance and I had a c-section with both my boys. My first son didn't hurt he was only 6lbs when he came out. My second was up under my ribs really well and was a chunky monkey. It only got uncomfortable when they were pulling him. If you do have to have a c-section for sure make sure once you get the feeling back in your legs you stay mobile so you don't stiffen up. I found doing that I was able to recover a lot better and faster. :)

  14. You are getting so close :) I think I would feel the same way about a C-section, but if that's what you have to do it will still be ok once you see your happy, healthy baby. Excited for you!

  15. I ended up having a c section and honestly the end result is all that matters. Once you have that sweet baby in your arms all your other concerns go out the door. I remember feeling that very same way though and it is completely justified. Xo

  16. Ugh, I'm sorry your birth plan isn't going to go as planned. Maybe, just maybe he'll still flip in these last weeks! I'll say a prayer!

And I feel you on the anxiety of going into labor while your doctor is on vacation. I just found our yesterday that my doctor will be gone Oct 12-20. My due date is somewhere between Oct 26-29. I'm seriously hoping and praying so HARD that this little guy stays put until she is back. I went a few days early with my first so I expect that for this one too. Just not TOO EARLY. Eeeeek:/

You're almost there mama! You look wonderful :)
