Moms, Glucose, and 50 Shades

May 14, 2012

Happy day after Mother's Day! We had a great weekend celebrating both of our moms. I don't know what I would do without my mom....she really is the best.

I can't believe next year will be my first official mother's day......the day took on such a new meaning for me. The amount of love a mother has for her baby is beyond anything I could have imagined....and I haven't even met my baby yet! My mom told me that once you have your own baby you realize that you never loved your own mom as much as she loved you. She says you feel guilty, but that it's okay. That broke my heart.....mothers really are amazing.

Speaking of being a mother, I'm off this morning to do my gestational diabetes test. Thankfully I don't have to fast before hand, which most likely would have been a disaster. I'm prone to passing out when my blood is drawn, and that's on a full stomach! My doctor is awesome and sent me home with the nasty orange drink so that I can drink it at home and then just show up and get seen right away. That drink has been taunting me in my refrigerator for weeks now. Wish me luck!

I finished 50 Shades of Grey last night. Holy cow I was so NOT prepared for that book! I didn't know it would be so..... what's the word.....intense? This is NOT your good Christian girl book. But it's good....and addicting. Needless to say I'm hooked and am going out to buy the second book today. Don't judge me. And mom, if you are reading this, please DON'T read this book.

How was your weekend?

  3. Did you chill your drink? That makes it easier! I just chugged it, it wasn't all that bad. Tasted like flat orange soda!

  8. I'm SO jealous of your glucose test! I had to fast and it was horrible!!! Fifty shades... Intense is definitely a word to describe it. And your moms right, really right.

  10. Ugh I've heard so much about that Glucose test - how terrible it is and that it's not so bad!

I think I need to start 50 Shades asap, if I can ever find it in stores.

PS Happy Mothers Day (yesterday) anyway, you're a mom already ;-)

  12. Hahaha my mom has my Kindle right now so she can read Hunger Games and all 3 of the Fifty Shades books are on there and I politely asked her not to read them. :) I read all 3 in a week. I wasn't expecting them to be so intense either, but gez, I couldn't put them down!! :)

  15. How was the orange drink? I have to do my glucose testing in a few weeks -- not looking forward to it! I am going to request to take mine home in order to refrigerate it before my appointment, too.

Ha! Love your book review of '50'! I just finished the third book - SO addicting, but I was definitely NOT prepared for the intensity either!

Hope you had a wonderful first (unofficial) Mother's Day!

    xo,

  21. The first part of your post about your mom made me cry, and made me want to have kids lol The second part made me realize I'm not the only one afraid of having blood drawan. The third part made me laugh out loud and my mom was standing behind me and asked why I was laughing. Couldn't tell her. Will buy that book soon! x

  22. Hahaha! My mother in law asked me about 50 Shades the other day and I couldn't even respond to her. I haven't even read it yet, but I was too embarrassed to even talk to her about it. Now she's going to read it and let me borrow it afterwards. Oh, the horror! :)
