DIY First Dance Artwork

I've been trying to come up with a cute craft to make using the lyrics to our first dance as husband and wife...
Photobucket
We danced to The Way You Look Tonight sung by Tony Bennett. It was perfect for us and a moment I will never forget.

Photobucket
And I think I found the perfect solution.....and the best part is that it was easy and only cost a few dollars!
Here's what I did:

Photobucket
First, I printed off the lyrics to our song. I used Courier font size 10 and printed it on cream colored paper. I decided to bold a few of my favorite words like "love" "heart" "tonight" etc. I just copied and pasted the lyrics over and over until I had a full page. Then I used my heart shaped punch to punch out the lyrics, making sure to get all of the words punched at least once.

Photobucket
I also printed a "j+j 10.05.08" on red cardstock for our initials and wedding date.

Photobucket
Then I went through all of the hearts and selected my 24 favorites. I picked up a white frame with mat from Michaels (using a 50% off coupon) and arranged the hearts on some burlap I already had.

Photobucket
At this point it sure helps if you have a cute side kick to approve your burlap usage.

Photobucket
I wanted the hearts to pop, so I slightly folded them in half. Then I used my hot glue gun to put a tiny dot of glue on the crease.

Photobucket
Then glue your hearts on! This was such an easy project.

Photobucket
And there it is! I like how the hearts aren't flat against the burlap. Oh, and please ignore that rip in the mat on the upper right corner....it's since been replaced!

Photobucket
I decided to go ahead and frame our wedding invitation too. It's still one of my favorite things about our wedding. I apologize for the bad lighting....it's not a very well lit hallway. These two frames are hanging on the wall opposite of our gallery wall, which you can see HERE. They are the perfect addition to the hallway.

Photobucket
Here's a better photo of our wedding invite. Can we please do the wedding all over again? It was too much fun.

That's a really adorable idea! =) Good job!

Y'all wedding invitations are to die for..so unique. I love things that are just a little different, ya know?

And if you find a way to do the wedding over again, let me know. Best day of my life. :) Maybe we should invent a national holiday? Re-Wedding Day? haha Government funded, of course.

I may steal your idea. I LOVE the lyrics to our song as well and have been looking for a way to incoperate them into a craft ... Someone gave us as a gift our invitation framed perfect to go along side it! LOVE IT! I agree - I want another wedding - with the same man!

Julie...absolutely amazing!!! It turned out great! I love how the hearts have some dimension. Your gallery wall looks great too! I liked the mixture if black-and-white frames, but when I saw the all white picture, I loved it more! You made the right decision. I feel motivated to try some of your ideas in my house. It needs a lot of personality! Thanks for sharing!!!

About your feline assistant......she is looking quite mature, but do you think she will grow into those ears?
