Happy Thanksgiving!

We are off to my in-laws for some yummy food and I can't wait! I made an apple crumb pie...it was my first time making it, so we'll see how it turns out. Oh, and we are bringing Wrigley with us, so at the very least we should have an interesting day.

I have so much to be thankful for this year: My husband, my family, life-long friends, a warm house to call home, and of course Henry, Pancake, and Wrigley. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm sticking with my guy...

Okay....so I saw New Moon on Sunday. By myself. Like a loser. But I totally didn't care. I couldn't talk the husband in to going with me....I really didn't try too hard because I know he would rather jam hot spikes into his eyeballs than see a movie about shirtless vampires and werewolves. So yeah. I was that girl. Luckily it was crowded (at 11 a.m. on a Sunday!) so I don't think anyone noticed my loserness.

Anyway, let me tell you what I thought of the movie...because I'm sure you haven't already read a million other reviews on other blogs. If I lost you at the whole "I saw New Moon on Sunday" part, then I'm sorry. I'm a twenty something girl...what can I say? We are all obsessed.

Moving on, I actually liked the movie even though it was my least favorite of the books (there are 4 for all of you non-Twilight people). I liked Twilight too, even though it was cheesy and the make-up was awful. I think they did a better job on New Moon. The effects were better and the make-up was a little less cake-like. Oh, and they didn't leave a bunch of stuff out, which was good too. Apparently everyone joins Team Jacob after seen this movie because he is basically shirtless the entire time. Um, hello? He is 17. NO THANK YOU! I wasn't feeling that at all. But, I do have to admit that he did a great job in the role. And it made me like him a little bit more. However, I am still on Team Edward, even though he wasn't in much of the movie (he wasn't in much of the book either, so I was prepared). I totally loved Charlie, Bella's dad, in this movie. He is just so cute and awkward. And I sort of liked Bella too....even though I can't stand the actress who plays her (please someone tell her to try and smile when she does interviews. Oh, and sit up straight!).

I would have liked to see more of the Cullen Family. Except Jasper. He sort of creeped me out. I think it was his hair. Oh, and I would have loved to see more of the Volturi (I would explain what they are to non-twilighers, but I think I lost you all a long time ago). Michael Sheen as Aro was wonderful. He was totally my favorite. Oh, and can we talk about the last few lines of the movie? I kind of loved that part. It made me laugh.
Overall, I give it a B+. Mostly because I am a fan....not because it was a great movie or anything like that. But I will definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD.

So, what did you think of New Moon?

Okay, I admit it....

Yes, I am a Twilight freak. I've read the books. I own the first movie (and secretly love it). And I'm definitely making plans to see New Moon this weekend. No, I won't be wearing a "Team Edward" shirt, or screaming at the screen....but I'll be there for sure. Who's with me?

My Mom's House

My mom's house is amazing people. When I was in CA for my business trip I tried to take some photos of her house so I could share how cute it is with my blog readers. Unfortunately I decided to take the pictures right before we had company coming over....so I didn't get very far. And then I forgot to take any more. I really wish I could show you the front of the house...because it is beyond cute. Maybe my mom can snap a few on her camera to share with us? (that is your homework mom!). Anyway, here are the few I did manage to take. First up, the living room. So cute. Don't you love the hardwood floors? They are original to the house, which was built in the 1940s (or was it the 1920s?...mom, please help a girl out.)

Next up is the dining room. When my mom bought the house in the 80s, there were Greek goddesses and fountains on the walls in here. She quickly covered it up with flowerly wall paper which has since been replaced with paint. I love the woodwork in this room and the built in cabinets. The room on the left is the kitchen, which I also forgot to photograph which is really sad because it is probably the cutest room in the house! You can see a little of the cute checker board floor.
My mom collects cake plates. I love them. She needs to move closer to me so that we can share all of this great stuff!

Here is the den....complete with Pepper the cat! My mom is thinking about painting the woodwork in this room white. What do you think? I think it will look amazing! The paint in this room is a pale greenish yellow.

Oh, and the guest bathroom! Not a very good picture, but you get the idea. And this must be when the doorbell rang and I had to stop taking pictures. So sad. Hopefully one day I'll get her entire house up here because it is seriously so wonderful.

Goodbye Fall

What happened to all of our pretty leaves? This year it seems like fall only lasted a few weeks. One day the trees were beautiful shades of red and orange and the next day they were bare! Every inch of our back yard was covered in leaves. So the husband and I spent a few hours raking them up (my first time raking! It was fun, for like the first 10 minutes).
Oh, and of course Wrigley had fun playing in the leaves.

So now everything looks like winter, except we don't have any snow. Which I'm sure will change in a few weeks....darn.

When the Puppy's Away....

...the cats will play! Wrigley had his boy parts snipped at the vet on Tuesday and had to spend the night in the hospital as a precaution. Needless to say Pancake and Henry were thrilled! They ate their dinner in peace, played on the deck, ran around the house without being chased by a puppy, and enjoyed some undisturbed time on the couch with me! They were in heaven! I think they thought we finally came to our senses and got rid of the evil puppy. They are in for a rude awakening later today when we bring him home!

I started to edit some of my photos from my trip to CA. But since Wrigley was away and we actually had peace for once, I didn't get much done because all I felt like doing was relaxing and catching up on the shows I recorded on the DVR while I was away. Here are the few I did get to.

Me with my favorite girls, Erin and Heather. They both took a day off of work to spend it with me! It was just like old times. We went shopping, ate and In N Out, gossiped, and had ice cream. Pretty much the perfect day. I love these girls!

I also spent some time with Erin and her fiance, Mike. We went down to Shoreline Village in Long Beach to snap a few shots. I got some really cute ones...but still need to edit them! But I know Erin really wants to see them...so here is a little sneak peak. More to come!

And of course we had to have a little fun with the huge lolly pops. So cute!

I'm Back!

So, I'm finally back from my trip to California. I had a great time catching up with old friends and seeing my family (oh, and working too). I'll post some pictures of my trip this week. Meanwhile, enjoy these pictures of Pancake and Henry hunting a lady bug that got into the house.

I think their plan was to just stare it to death.

Here we go, round two of "let's look at how cute we were" photos. I hope you aren't sick of them! I love looking at photos of people when they were goofy kids!

I know I've posted this one before. Me and my cousin John. Everyone thought we were twins because we both had red hair. But I am a few years older. I have no idea what we are wearing but my mom clarified that it is a bear on my shirt, and not a stain. I was a very clean kid. Click here (4th photo down) to see my cousin now!

Just a few weeks ago the husband's parents brought a huge box of his trophies over to our house.....we will be making a donation to Special Olympics very soon.
