More House Pictures

I don't have very many good pictures of the house. We should close on it in about two weeks and I will for sure have tons of photos then! I will do before and after photos too...because, well, we have some work to do in this house.

Here is another view of the front of the house. We can't decide what color it is. It is sort of off white...it looks a little yellow here but I don't think it really is. And we love the big porch. See that light by the garage? I will be spray painting that black. And we might add some shutters...do you think that would look good?

Here is the kitchen. It needs appliances. And new light fixtures. And a new sink. And some paint. I kind of want to paint the cabinets either black or white, but the husband is against it. So I don't know what we will do. But don't you love the hard wood floors? I do. And that door on the right leads to the deck.

House Update

Our house inspection was yesterday and it went really well! The next step is a bank appraisal and after that we are good to go! Wish us luck! Once we close you can expect many house and decorating posts...I'm so excited!

Henry in High Places

Last night I walked in to the kitchen and discovered this little guy on top of the cabinets.

I have no idea how he got up there.

Henry keeping watch.

Isn't he cute?

We bought our first house!

What do you think? (This picture is from the fall....right now it looks a little different because it is covered in snow!) It has a red door...so it was meant to be! We still have to finalize everything and get it inspected. But we love it and I have been dying to share it with you! More pictures coming soon.

Kitty Time Out Part 2: The Break In

Remember this? Well it has been somewhat successful...until now.

Unfortunately for us, Henry has figured out how to set his brother free.

So I shut them both in to think about what they did.

See this mom? Henry can be naughty too.

Exploding Car

On my way to work yesterday morning I heard a huge bang at the back of my car. I thought something or someone had hit me and I freaked out. When I glanced in the review mirror however....my rear windshield was gone! It exploded....literally. This could only happen to me! I quickly turned around to head back home to first call the husband and complain....then call the insurance company. Luckily our insurance guy set me up with a repair shop that would replace the windshield for less than the insurance deductible. So now we have a new rear windshield....that hopefully won't explode on me again.

Windshield totally gone.

Oh and did I mention that it was 5 degrees outside? It sure was a fun drive home.

Some of the broken glass in the back of the car. The repair guy said the windshield was weakened by corrosion on the windshield wiper thing....and it being all of 5 degrees just pushed the windshield to the limit.

I Have the Best Husband Ever

When I got home from work yesterday, the husband had bought me a present! A beautiful orchid. I have always wanted an orchid. He said he got it for me "just because". Have I mentioned that I love this man?
Isn't it pretty?

He totally made my day.

Isn't my husband the best?

Yes, we did this. And it was wonderful. And yes, those are marshmallows and graham crackers on that other plate....yum. Oh, and in case you were wondering, that is The Husband's hand...not mine....least you be confused.

This is How I Feed Him

Henry eats his meals up on the counter. I know it sounds weird but really we had no choice. A certain chubby orange kitty likes to steal Henry's food. Solution: put it up on the counter. It takes a lot of effort for the Cake to jump up on the counter.....so keeping Henry's food out of his reach has been good for his "diet".

Henry has a French cat food bowl. We like to support diversity around here. It says "J'aime mon chat" which means "I love my cat"....I know this because I took French like 10 years ago. Oh and get this....my friend John, who took French with me, lives in France! He is fluent. Totally makes me look like the French class drop-out. And I swear I was better at it than him...back when I was 15 years old.

Moving on....I like how he is almost like a real person here...sitting at a table eating his meal all professional like.

This side of the bowl is Spanish...we have quite the multicultural kitties in this house.

Floating Down the River

Tonight I snapped a few pictures of the boys "floating down the river". This is what we have always called kitties when they look like this...it is a phrase that my Grandma Mabel used to say...and it has sort of stuck. I think it is quite the accurate description...don't they just look like they could be floating down a river like that? I like to think so.

Henry has mastered the position quite well.

Pancake floatin'....sorry for the blurry photo.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! We spent New Year's Eve with our friends Mo and Ali. Oh, and they just got engaged a few weeks ago! Congrats to Mo and Ali....we couldn't be happier for them and we are so excited for their wedding! So, we went to the B.O.B., also known as the Big Old Building, in downtown Grand Rapids....it is a 4 story restaurant/bar with something different on each floor. We had a yummy progressive dinner (prim rib) and then went to the 3rd floor for a comedy show. Now, I'm no comedy expert, but this guy was f-u-n-n-y. We laughed the entire time and had a blast. After the show we had some drinks at the bar and waited for 2009 to come. We rang in the new year with champagne and balloons.

Here we are.....I really prefer taking pictures outside....but what can you do. Oh, and did I mention it was a balmy 20 degrees???

Jon and Mo....goofing around as usual.

Mo and Ali at the comedy show.

Jon ordered "The Grand River Water" drink for us....the Grand River is a murky river that runs through Grand Rapids....needless to say it lived up to its name...but it was yummy!

Another shot of us....my top is sparkly...

And finally, the boys doing what they do best. Happy 2009!
